Affordable, But Still Romantic V-Day Gift For Brokies
You’re not the only person in 2024 who is broke. We are one failed election away from another Depression. And I’m not talking about the one your therapist diagnosed you with. The job market sucks and it’s been over a decade since the minimum wage has increased. ANYWAYS, THE POINT ISSSSSS… being broke is not an excuse for not leaving your s/o giftless. Get creative. The same way you do when you be lying.
A Picnic
I mentioned this two posts ago, but this time I can actually walk you guys through it so there’s no excuse. Grab your keys, get in your car, and drive to the closest Aldi’s. Pick up a wheel of Brie, some chips, a cheap bottle of wine, and a $5 bouquet of flowers. You can get all this for under $20. If you drive near a beach, pond, or park, take her there. Bonus points if you get there as right before sunset. I can guarantee you just made her the happiest woman in the world. I swear we are this simple.
2. Books
If she’s a bookworm, then this should be an easy one. Find out what kind of book she reads, then go from there. If she’s an avid reader, there’s likely a book she already has in mind, but has yet to have ownership of it yet. Just ask her, she has one. I can guarantee it. Even if she isn’t a bookworm, get a book you think may speak to her. Or get her a book that can teach her something she’s been wanting to learn. You know what… I don’t trust you to make this decision on your own so let me just give you some book recommendations that almost any woman would be joyous to receive. Some appropriate titles are Ornament and Silence by Kennedy Fraser, When God was a Woman by Merlin Stone, Black Swans by Eve Babitz, and The Genius of the Poor by Thomas Graham.
3. Fix Her a Bath
But not just any bath! Romanticize it. Get in the bath with her if you wish! Get her favorite ice cream and put on her favorite show. Maybe you want to chef it up and make her a meal she can eat in the bath while reading her favorite book. Decorate the bath with some flower petals or fruits.
4. Matching Crystal Bracelets
Your nearest crystal store will have these for about $6-12 a pop! If you need suggestions on what crystals to get here are a few ones that gravitate towards love and passion: rose quartz, chrysoprase, garnet, morganite, and rhodochrosite. If crystals aren’t your thing, Etsy has some affordable couples jewelry.
5. Museum Date
Real talk: If a girl likes you, she’ll likely go anywhere with you. She’ll ride with you in circles for hours if it meant getting to spend time with you. There’s something special and unique about learning new things together at museums. My personal love language is learning your taste in art. Most national museums are free. Even during special exhibitions, tickets are usually under $20 for both. It gives both of you a chance to get dressed up. You can even grab a glass of wine at the museum restaurant if they have one. For example, VMFA has the Amuse restaurant with a nicely stocked bar. (Fun fact: They have Friday Night Events with drink specials)
6. Flowers & Chocolate
Cliché and unoriginal. I know. But I put this here as another reminder to you men who are reading this that us women are simple creatures. Much simpler than you make us out to be. I don’t want a single excuse as to why you can’t make your girl feel special cuz you really don’t have to do the most to impress us. So don’t hit her with “WELL, I didn’t know what to get you” when flowers and chocolate for under $15 are available at nearly every store even gas stations. And if you’re the kind of guy that says “What’s the point of getting you flowers? They’re just gonna die anyways” then you don’t deserve a girlfriend. Or a love life period. With your logic, you should have been thrown in the trash a long time ago cuz you’re even more useless than dead flowers.
7. Care Package
This is one of those gifts you can make as cheap or expensive as you want. Women love knick knacks. Fill the gift basket up with little things you know she enjoys. Or you if you want to make it even more special, curate the basket to her favorite favorite hobby or aesthetic. For example, if you’re dating a spiritual girly, fill her basket up with palo santo, tarot cards, and crystals. If she loves to bake, fill it up with packaged frostings, sprinkles, and cookie cutter shapes she doesn’t yet have. Find her niche and get creative. One time, I had an ex make a bouquet out of slim jims because he knew I loved them so much. It was simple, but the thought that went into that was appreciated. The goal is to make her feel seen.
8. Write a Song/Poem
Unless you’re buying a brand new guitar, this is probably the most cost-effective one. Also the most romantic one, in my opinion. I’ve only had one song written about me (that I know of). You know a man is in love when he writes a song about how much you stress him tf out, but he still wants to get down on one knee. Hehe. I don’t know what that man is up to, but wherever he is, whoever he is with… I know you miss me, baby.
9. Breakfast in Bed
I know a lot of these suggestions are from my last post, but it’s not my fault I’m so good at coming up with affordable yet special gifts. This one is especially great if your person isn’t a big gift person. You don’t have to go all Gordon Ramsay in the kitchen if you’re not a good cook. We don’t want to burn the house down and ruin Valentine’s Day now, do we? Keep it simple and cost-effective. First thing you’ll want to do is see what you can make with what you already have. If you need to go out and get a carton of eggs then fine. I would suggest get some flowers for a special touch. Even if you just pick up a blossomed flower on the side of the road. She’ll appreciate the effort.
I hope you all have a wonderful Valentine’s Day!
Remember ladies:
If he wants to, he’ll make the effort. If he doesn’t, he’ll make excuses.
